Over the weekend Jeff Bajorek sent an email and included what he called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/jeffbajorek\/356\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">An Open Letter to My Younger Self<\/a>.\u201d Just the idea of doing that is pretty cool, and of course, the actual content in Jeff\u2019s letter doesn\u2019t disappoint. You\u2019ll find a link to it at <a href=\"http:\/\/DailySales.Tips\/1287\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DailySales.Tips\/1287<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now, there\u2019s one part that absolutely jumped out at me and I think is so important to understand, especially as a podcast listener. He said: \u201c<em>The dirty secret most sales influencers won\u2019t tell you is that their stuff won\u2019t work for you as well as it does for them. That\u2019s because it\u2019s not yours; it\u2019s theirs.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>If there\u2019s anything I\u2019ve learned from having done 150 interviews with top quota-carrying sales performers on the Sales Success Stories podcast it\u2019s this. It\u2019s that they\u2019ve found their way and what works for them.<\/p>\n<p>Jeff goes on to say: \u201c<em>Of course, you don\u2019t need to build it from scratch. The books you read and the podcasts you listen to (from most sources) provide you with some pretty solid frameworks. The key is not to copy them verbatim but to understand why they work and make them your own.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I couldn\u2019t have said it any better myself so I won\u2019t.
