Scott Ingram: You\u2019re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I\u2019m your host, Scott Ingram. Today\u2019s tip comes from Chris McNeill. Chris is a long-time contributor to the Sales Success Community, he has a decade of experience selling and leading teams, and is an intentional individual contributor who loves working with technical solutions and complex buyers. Chris McNeill: Hello again, Sales Success Community. Today’s tip is inspired by a quote from one of the most famous stoic philosophers, Marcus Aurelius. In his writing, he emphasizes the importance of taking action and making progress towards our goals. He says, Hasten then to the goal, lay idle hopes aside, and come to your own help, if you care at all for yourself, while still you may. As salespeople, we face numerous challenges and obstacles every day from dealing with difficult prospects to hitting our sales targets. It’s easy to get bogged down by these problems, but what separates successful salespeople from the rest is their ability to take action and make progress.<\/p>\n

So what’s the solution? Pick one thing that you need to improve on and focus on every day. It could be improving your cold calling skills, mastering a new sales technique, or simply being more organized with your time. Whatever it is, the key is to break it down into small, manageable steps that you can take every day. Do you struggle with cold calls? Pick up the phone and make one extra call each day. Want to master objection handling? Review one common objection and practice your response. Stuck in a rut? Choose one area to improve and nail down concrete steps to build that skill day by day. Break big goals into manageable chunks. Come into each week with a plan for skill development and time management. Stop wondering how to improve? Just start improving.<\/p>\n

Consider it building a foundation for your future success. Build a plan on where you want to be in the steps necessary to get there with your own skill progression. Come into every week knowing exactly what you need to be doing every day to make that progress. That way, you’ll never have to wonder how you should be spending your time, and you won’t waste as much time. Focusing on progress, not perfection is key. Think of it as building a foundation for success. By strengthening one skill at a time through daily practice, you’ll gain the confidence and mindset to achieve at the highest levels. So get active in your own success. Pick one thing to work on, make your plan, and start today. Incorporating this practice into your daily routine will not only help you achieve your goals, but also help you develop a growth mindset that will serve you well throughout your sales career.<\/p>\n
