Today\u2019s tip comes from Meshell Baker, our favorite, I hope you know this line, sales confidence igniter, and authentic selling crusader. Here she is:<\/p>\n<p>Meshell Baker: Today, I want to talk to you about the essential traits every successful salesperson has established and an immediately implementable technique. These are the Power Trio, Patience, Persistence, and a Positive perspective. Now, these three P&#8217;s aren&#8217;t just about a nice to have. They are truly necessary for thriving in the world of success. Let&#8217;s start with one.<\/p>\n<p>Trait number 1. Patience. This is accepting that you aren&#8217;t always the priority. Patience in sales means that you know that sometimes you simply aren&#8217;t your prospect&#8217;s priority. The definition of patience is the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset. Sound familiar? As salespeople, you face rejection daily. I know you heard this, and I know you know this, But have you really, truly, and fully accepted it&#8217;s part of the process. Patience empowers you to tolerate delays without losing your cool or focus. Remember, the sale will come when the time is right, not a moment before. Stay patient.<\/p>\n<p>Trait number 2. Persistence. This is showing who you are without being intrusive. Persistence is about staying connected and relevant to your clients and prospects without coming across as needy or pushy. It&#8217;s a delicate balance, one that reveals your character and dedication. Persistent salespeople don&#8217;t give up. They find ways to add value consistently without overwhelming their prospects. Your persistence should say, I&#8217;m here when you&#8217;re ready, not, I need the sale right now.<\/p>\n<p>Trait number 3. A Positive perspective. This is seeing the good in every situation. I want to talk about maintaining a positive perspective. See, the pairing of patience and persistence alone, you can do that and complain and have a negative attitude. When you add in a third, the positive attitude, it&#8217;s not just about you smiling through tough times. It&#8217;s about recognizing opportunities where others see obstacles. When you focus on the good in every situation, you don&#8217;t just build resilience, you also start to spot opportunities where others completely miss and overlook it. This mindset helps you to see the bigger picture and keeps you motivated even when things aren&#8217;t going as planned.<\/p>\n<p>Why is this important?<\/p>\n<p>Well, did you know that 80% of sales require at least five follow-ups after the initial meeting? But nearly 44% of sales people give up after the first follow-up or forget to follow up altogether. This statistic shows that patients&#8217; persistence and a positive attitude are essential, mandatory, and necessary for long-term sales success.<\/p>\n<p>So what is an immediately implementable technique?<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s something you can do right now, today, review your current follow-up list and identify one prospect where you can exercise a little more patience, persistence, and positivity. Send them a thoughtful message that adds value without pushing for the sale. If you did this every day, five days a week, think about how many more of your prospects you would touch, impact, and how you would actually increase your sales.<\/p>\n<p>Remember, the goal is to stay top of mind, not to pressure them. See, when you embrace the power trio of patience, persistence, and positivity, you position yourself as a trusted partner, not just as a salesperson. Keep showing up with value, stay patient, and maintain the positive outlook. You&#8217;ll see the results.<\/p>\n<p>I want to share a quote with you by Est\u00e9e Lauder.
