Scott Ingram: Welcome back to the Daily Sales Tips Podcast. I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today’s tip comes from an insurance agent in Las Vegas:
Zhaneta Gechev: Hi guys, my name is Zhaneta Gechev and I’m the founder of One Stop Life Insurance. I’ve been in insurance sales for over a decade and I always try to stay current. For many agents, insurance it’s not a sexy sale and it may even be boring. Therefore, the biggest thing that I’m noticing is to why so many people don’t do well in sales, it’s the mentality. There are countless resources out there to teach you how to sell are probably sales cultures in your organization, giving you scripts and tips and this is all great but essentially it will not work unless you have the right mindset and motivation. Many people consider so to be an easy field where you can make money quickly and easily. And this is made be truthful occasions, but in reality, it does require to be consistent. This is why I knew I needed something to keep me motivated and on track. Again, it doesn’t matter what you sell. If you’re not consistent, you will fail. I was reading many motivational books and books on how to be successful and many of them have catchy titles like “Are you better?” 0r “stop doubting your greatness” but they just didn’t click with me so I stumbled upon The Power of Consistency by Weldon Long. This book changed it all for me. I love the simplicity of it and the message it portrays. Have a vision and just work towards it. There were several paragraphs that were my “Aha” moments and even today when things don’t go as planned, I keep repeating them in my head. In a nutshell, the book asks you to be clear what you want in life, list of things you need to do to achieve it and then just ask you “why are you doing them?” If you have a box full of bicycle parts for example, and you start pulling them one by one and you try to put it together, eventually you will end up with a complete bicycle. And this is the concept I love the most. I do many little things for my business and every sale, every little success or even every fail, it’s a part of the bicycle that I’m building. So in conclusion, I would highly recommend the book The Power of Consistency because it focuses on the bigger picture. It is not just teaching you what to say, which is important, but what to do to achieve your dreams. To me, the secret of success is consistency. There is not one successful person who will tell you otherwise. Thank you.
