Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today’s tip comes from Kari Pesch. Kari is an Account Executive at RR Donnelley and a fan of the show. She reached out with this tip after hearing previous tips about handwritten notes and how some people don’t send them because they’re worried about their handwriting. Here she is:
Kari Pesch: Hey Daily Sales Tips listeners. I’m really excited because today’s tip is about how corporate gifting can be a really powerful marketing tool. What the holidays coming up around the corner, you want to get this right and if you stay tuned until the end of the episode, I have a special code just for you. What I’m talking about corporate gifting, I’m talking about non-cash or non-gift card type of gifts. Gifts can build a lot of loyalty with your customers or get your foot in the door with prospective customers. The data on corporate gifting is profound. In fact, 83% of C suite executives believe that corporate gifting builds measurable positive ROI. That’s amazing. I’m sure you know by now if you’ve listened to this podcast long enough that relationships are key to sales success.
One way to really dig deep into your customer relationships is being interested in your customer’s interests, so what are they interested outside of work and family? Are they a foodie? Do they like nature? Do they practice TaeKwonDo on the weekends? Really lean in and learn for perspective. Customers do the best you can. Researching LinkedIn, look on Twitter. Sometimes even there are other social media avenues are public so you can kind of get hints as to what interests them outside of work and then build your gift upon that. If you take one thing away from this podcast today, let it be this. Please do not send promotional items as holiday gifts. I’m talking about branded Yetis, branded blankets, anything that might be a customer giveaway at a conference for example. Please do not give those to your customers as gifts. They are a non-personable, they say nothing about your customer and everything about your brand. I just would not recommend that. Once you know your customers’ interests, you can build your gift based on that to really develop your relationship.
I always build my kiss on teak and twine. That’s T E A K and Twine. They have a customized gifting tool where you can actually build your own gift based on your budget and based on your customer’s interests is really, really cool. I’ve sent gifts to my customers when we close a contract. I sent a gift to a customer recently who got back from maternity leave. I’ve sent gifts to customers just for the holidays. One of the other cool things they do is you can actually brand the box with your logo so they have a belly band that you can customize or you can customize some of the items inside the box so you still get that brand recognition that you’re looking for, but it’s not in the forefront.
They also have a really cool option and guys, this might be for you where if you have really bad handwriting, they will handwrite a note on your behalf and send it along with your gift. Another cool service that they provide is you can actually send them your Company’s Stationary and they will handwrite the notes on your stationery and send it along with your gift. And I’m really excited because I get to share with you a special code DailySalesTips10 that’s all one word DailySalesTips10 for 10% off your first order with Teak and Twine. So I hope you enjoy today’s episode. Have a productive day
