Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today Jeff Bajorek is back, and I probably should have shared this tip with you last week, but it’s just as relevant now as it was then. Here he is:
Jeff Bajorek: If you’re not having fun, you’re probably doing it wrong. Last week was Christmas Eve and my wife and I went to the grocery store. We just took a little drive. It’s when we go to pretty regularly. It’s really close to the house and I wore this ridiculous Christmas themed tracksuit thing. That’s the only thing I can call it. And it’s got a bunch of reindeer on it, holding beer mugs. Okay. This is the kind of thing that you wear and you’re glad that it’s seasonal, right? It shows that you have a sense of humor. It shows that you don’t take yourself too seriously. And I can tell you that there were no fewer than 10 people who stopped me in the short time that we were there and made some kind of comment on it, always with a smile on their face. And that’s kind of the thing when you’re having fun, other people are having fun.
If you have fun selling your customers, we’ll have fun buying. So here’s my question. As we turn the calendar, we move into a new year and a new decade. Are you having fun yet? If you’re not, you may have to think about some kind of change and most likely that change that needs to be made as right here in your head. Like even the hard work and even the stuff that you don’t want to do leads to something fun. Even though each piece of the sales puzzle is not the one that you look forward to. You don’t get out of bed every day saying, “I can’t wait to make a bunch of cold calls today.” Yet you do it because you know that it needs to be done. And you know that the win the catch is worth the thrill of the chase. And you have fun in those moments. If you don’t love it, you need to, you’ve got to go do something else. So if you’re not having fun, you’re probably doing it wrong. I want you to ask yourself if you’re having fun right now, I want you to ask yourself what it’s going to take for you to have fun. And then I want you to get there
