Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today, Dale Dupree, the leader of the Sales Rebellion is back to share this killer insight with you:
Dale Dupree: Here’s a tip for all of you that are out there chasing sales happiness as I like to call it. So here’s the thing, we have to fully understand and come to terms with the fact that our outlook on life and our goals are going to change as we get older. It looked back at 10 years ago and tell me with confidence that you had the exact same outlook as you do now and if you haven’t been in sales for 10 years at this point and you’re pretty fresh green to the game as we’d like to say, then this is really good advice for you.
To start planning now for the next 10 years for the long game and for the concept of change and how inevitable it is and your life walk, especially in the salesroom. Change is constant and has to exist inside of your sales walk. In order to continue to earn respect and to earn credibility with your prospects as well too. See, here’s the other thing, it is not difficult to truly chase and eventually find sales happiness, but it starts today with your attitude and with your mindset. And so it starts with you accepting that you are extremely blessed with the life you have whatever your situation. If you can breathe air through your lungs, hug somebody you love, watch a sunset, feel the sand of the beach beneath your feet, all that other corny stuff, you are blessed and happiness has actually found you. Maybe it’s you that’s having a hard time accepting that happiness.
See the aesthetics surrounding all these situations are not happiness. They’re just preferences that you have put on a pedestal. Remember that fact. See, here’s the thing that I mean by all of this. I sat once with one of the poorest people I’ve ever met in my entire walk. So the homeless guy lost his family to a tragedy. He becomes addicted to heavy drug use and alcohol. He literally had nothing to live for is probably one of the saddest stories I’ve ever heard. But before that, he had told me all of this. I had just handed him some food and asked him,” What’s your story, man?” He looked me right in the eye and welled up and told me that he took everything that he had for granted, and then he was chasing something that in reality, he had already had all along. So I want to encourage all of you today to look at what’s happening in your life. Look at what’s happening around you, and remember as you chase that sales happiness to recognize that you’ve probably already got it
