Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today’s tip comes from Mintis Hankerson. Mintis is a Sales Manager at Hubspot where she and her team have consistently been overperforming their numbers. This is also a bit of the preview of our podcast partnership with Hubspot around their Inbound event that starts next Tuesday, September 22nd. Here’s Mintis:
Mintis Hankerson: Make remote training inclusive of multiple learning styles. If you aren’t the type of person that learns from staring at a slide deck on zoom, you aren’t alone. Run trainings that are not a slide deck talking and just reps, just listening. Run trainings, where you isolate one concept, you do a role play and do a breakout activity that actually involves applying that knowledge. For example, my team was learning how to sell more upmarket. To sell more upmarket, we had to know businesses better and have better business acumen. So instead of sitting through an entire slide deck on how to somewhere upmarket and talking about all the ways of business acumen and all of the different components. Instead, we did one slide where we looked at three different business models. And instead after that, we analyzed real-life businesses to understand how did the models we talked through actually apply to the real businesses we were seeing. After that, we did a hot seat breakout session, which means each rep had to then go through, pull up a website, tell us about the business model, tell us what that business does, understand how they make money, how they could potentially use the products we sell and how selling to them would ultimately lift up their business. Connect with me on LinkedIn to hear more tips and tricks of what I use to help keep my sales team engaged. As we navigate being fully remote in training.
