Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today Jeff Bajorek is back with some more wisdom for you. Here he is:
Jeff Bajorek: They used to call August the dog days of summer, but lately it feels like the dog days of COVID. Look, this whole thing is going on a lot longer than I think any of us thought earlier this spring, and now not only are we dealing with something that doesn’t have an end in sight predictably yet, but we’re realizing that the kids being home all summer was kind of a break because at least they didn’t have homework to help them with. Now we have another thing to add to the mix and there are a lot of people who are really fatigued right now. I’m one of them. So what do you need to do? You’ve got to find a way to get your swagger back. You got to find a way to get back on the right track. Feel like you’re doing something really productive, feeling like a success again. You need a win.
This is my challenge to you. Go find a win. No, I’m not asking you to discount your product or your service so much that people can’t say no to you. And no, I’m not asking you to add more to your pipeline. Although that’s always really good advice. I’m saying find something you can rally behind. Find something, find that a project around the house find a project you can do with your kids. Find a new board game that you can play as a family. Find, I don’t know a new topic for your sales team meeting so that you can get everybody fired up. You can get everybody rallied around a concept and you can get people feeling like they’re moving forward again. You need a little win.
I got to tell you, I did not expect this. Okay, but I just did a little project in a spare bathroom in my house. And I am so happy with the way it turned out. That every time I look at it, my spirit lifts and it was a realization to me that despite all of these, the fatigue that’s going on with COVID with family, with lack of personal space, with lack of going out with big groups of people, all that stuff kind of adds up. And sometimes you just need something to spark you and get you back on the right track.
Getting a little win leads to a bigger win. It leads to chains of wins. It leads to trains of wins. You need to get back on the right track. Find a way just a little win to get you moving forward again. I think you’re going to appreciate the difference in, Hey, in the meantime, you’ll have a lot of fun.
