Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today’s tip comes from Amber Deibert. Amber is a performance coach who helps Enterprise Account Executives in Tech conquer imposter syndrome and manage their mindset. She has helped hundreds of clients get their mojo back and get back on the top of the leaderboard. Here she is:
Amber Deibert: What’s up everybody? Your friendly neighborhood performance coach, here Amber Deibert. All right. Today I want to tell you why you have Imposter Syndrome. It is not what you think. You don’t have Impostor Syndrome because you are somehow a subpar human. It’s not because you’re less confident than other people. It’s not because you have some kind of problem that other people don’t have.
The reason that you have Impostor Syndrome is because you are a raging success. Go with me here. I know at this point you’re probably thinking, “I don’t believe it.” But here’s the thing. The only reason why you have imposter Syndrome is because you are continually attaining your next level of success.
When you get a new promotion, you feel Impostor Syndrome. When you are assigned a new project, you feel Impostor Syndrome. When you switch roles, you feel Impostor Syndrome. Imposter Syndrome only shows up when you are in a growth phase. That’s why it feels so uncomfortable because you are out of your comfort zone.
So the number one thing that will help you to get out of Impostor Syndrome is to just keep going.
See Imposter Syndrome as a major sign of success and just keep on going. That is my tip for you today. Imposter Syndrome is because you are a success, not because you’re a subpar human. Keep going. Keep putting in the repetitions. Pretty soon this will be no big deal.
