“If there’s anything I’ve learned from having done 150 interviews with top quota-carrying sales performers on the Sales Success Stories podcast it’s this. It’s that they’ve found their way and what works for them.” – Scott Ingram in today’s Tip 1287

Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Over the weekend Jeff Bajorek sent an email and included what he called “An Open Letter to My Younger Self.” Just the idea of doing that is pretty cool, and of course, the actual content in Jeff’s letter doesn’t disappoint. You’ll find a link to it at DailySales.Tips/1287.
Now, there’s one part that absolutely jumped out at me and I think is so important to understand, especially as a podcast listener. He said: “The dirty secret most sales influencers won’t tell you is that their stuff won’t work for you as well as it does for them. That’s because it’s not yours; it’s theirs.”
If there’s anything I’ve learned from having done 150 interviews with top quota-carrying sales performers on the Sales Success Stories podcast it’s this. It’s that they’ve found their way and what works for them.
Jeff goes on to say: “Of course, you don’t need to build it from scratch. The books you read and the podcasts you listen to (from most sources) provide you with some pretty solid frameworks. The key is not to copy them verbatim but to understand why they work and make them your own.”
I couldn’t have said it any better myself so I won’t. Go check out Jeff’s full letter to his younger self at DailySales.Tips/1287 and then come on back tomorrow for another great sales tip. Thanks for listening!
