Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today’s tip comes from Chris McNeill as he helps me make sure the sales tip well doesn’t run dry. Here he is:
Chris McNeill: Hey Sales Success Community. Chris McNeil back with my first Daily Sales Tip in probably 100 episodes at least. It’s been a little while.
So I’m recording this at the start of the second half of 2022, and I just wrapped up an exercise reviewing my progress, year to date as an individual contributor. Around this time, it’s also pretty normal for me to revisit some of the fundamentals of selling and check myself against those, make sure I haven’t lost my way.
Sales is complex and there are always hundreds of distractions, lots of busy work, product meetings, marketing meetings, one-on-one, and more that want to take us away from our most important revenue-generating activities.
So that’s what today’s tip is all about. Stay focused and don’t let your well run dry.
When you’re at the end of a quarter so close to your number that you can taste it, it can be easy to forget about all those early or middle-stage opportunities. Don’t ignore them. Don’t push those meetings to next week. Work them just as diligently as you work at late-stage opportunities because that’s how you ensure they become your next late-stage opportunities at the end of this quarter.
Of course, don’t neglect your pipeline development either. Where do you think your next early-stage opportunities are going to come from?
I’m sure you get the point. There are two jobs in sales, create and close. If you work on those two jobs every day, your well will never run dry.
Hopefully, this is a fundamental for everyone out there, and my tip is just a friendly reminder of something you’re already doing. Let me know either way. You can find me on LinkedIn. Happy selling.

Thanks for listening!
