Meshell Baker: Hello and welcome to today’s Daily Sales Tip which is a question. My question to you is, are you a critic or are you a cheerleader? Are you championing your success? Are you crushing your spirit? This is an intriguing actual process that will generate more sales. So as we know, sales is a numbers game. You have so many calls that you’re making, following up with following through on so that you can get so many transactions. And what generally happens is at the beginning of a new year like this year, 2022, many people have a new quota, new targets they set for themselves. And as things begin to roll out, they may not go as planned. And the question is, when they go as planned, are you criticizing yourself? Are you cheerleading yourself? Knowing that things are working in your favor. They’re just not going exactly the way you thought they would go.
And this is intriguing activity I have for you. It challenges you that instead of looking at what went wrong, look at what you want to go correct right or better, and turn that into an affirmation. And so once you have an affirmation that you repeatedly execute, it will help your mind to see the better champions, the better outcome as you’re experiencing it. Understand that life and business especially rarely goes the way it’s planned. You are always going to face the unexpected, the unplanned, the uncomfortable, be inconvenienced, and feel uncertainty. So preparing for that with affirmations is how your mind, that expansive, unlimited brain of imagination that you have, turns those obstacles into opportunities and problems into possibilities so that your mind starts to generate favorable outcomes and understand that everything is working in your favor. And the only way you can have that is if you begin to speak it before it happens, that it becomes that way. So in the instant, in the moment when you feel the emotion of discomfort, of uncertainty, your mind, instead of taking you into flight, it takes you into fight because you have on repeated basis affirm. I am successful. I am a top seller. I am a President’s Trophy winner. I am promoted. I am rocking my business. I am earning six figures. And you can add adjectives in there. I’m an excellent seller, right? I am a generous, thought leader and manager or supervisor. You can add in little adjectives to even enhance it. So go get it to source and do that on your own.
Having said that, think about the targets and the vision, and the goals you have set for yourself this year. Turn them into affirmations. I encourage you to print them out and put them on the bathroom mirror. That is the place you first engage with yourself every morning and when you can start your day in a way that affirms you that encourages you and inspires you, you will more likely have a better day. And remember it’s the repetition that delivers the results and the mastery.
I love thinking about people like Kobe Bryant and Stephen Curry and Michael Jordan these people who became Legends they did it because they went a little extra, they actually did the things repeatedly until they cannot do it. You can’t not do it, when you make it your habit and standard and then all of a sudden you will shift from that critic of it’s not going right to that cheerleader that doesn’t matter what happens I will still succeed. If they don’t buy someone else will because I always make my target. I hit my numbers. Customers love working with me. It’s an incredible experience. I am an incredible employee. I’m an incredible supervisor. Create affirmations that align you to the success that you have decided that you will have this year of selling and make it your business to make it your habit and standard to save them ongoing and regular basis and I promise you your day, week, year will turn around right before your eyes. Have a happy and wonderful day selling.
