Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today’s tip comes from Chris Prangley. As the VP of Sales– in the west for a multibillion-dollar cybersecurity firm, Chris is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. Here he is:
Chris Prangley: Today’s Daily Sales Tip: Take ownership. Taking ownership gives you power. There’s so much in sales that we can control. There’s a little that we can’t.
The most successful reps that I’ve ever worked with that I’ve ever known. Take ownership. Extreme ownership.
One of the ways that you can do this is with your calendar. So is your calendar this week empty? Next week? Is it empty? We need to fill it. That’s on us, right? Take ownership. That leads us to prospecting.
Another thing. Don’t rely on your inside rep. Don’t rely on partners. Don’t rely on inbound leads to come. They may come and they should come. But take ownership and know that your calendar, your deals rely on you. No one’s going to want President’s Club more than you. No one’s going to want to change your financial situation more than you. Take ownership.
The final one to cap it off with your deals. Take ownership, right? On the larger deals loop in your team. Looping your managers so that you win together. You lose together. And if you commit something, to a customer, to a prospect, make sure that you deliver and over-deliver on that. Take ownership.
