Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Welcome to the start of a brand new week and a brand new month. Here’s Meshell Baker to kick us off:
Meshell Baker: Hello! Today I want you to always remember who you are. Yes, I will say that again. I want you to always remember who you are. ARE. We’ll get to that soon enough. One of the things I find most interesting about sales is that it’s rarely talked about or even discussed the challenges that come with being a top-performing seller. Sales is emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually, financially draining. It costs a lot to be a top seller.
Why? Because top sellers and performers, one, they invest in themselves. Aside from the training you get and acquire at the company that you’ve worked for, if there is any, a top performer always invest in themselves, and their first and top investment is in their mind so that they can capture their thoughts and turn those random thoughts of failure, of frustration, fear, and doubt in their favor.
Now, remembering who you are, that is absolutely necessary and mandatory. So that you will remember that you will actually step into the fact that you’re resourceful and that you’re resilient. Basically, resilience means that in the face of any circumstance, situation, in person, you will remember who you are and you will move forward despite anything that’s happening externally to you. And then being resourceful simply means that as you’re resiliently moving forward, you begin to remember all that you have within your reach and that’s where the ARE comes in. A-R-E or simply AHA’s, Revelations, and Epiphanies.
And what are those? Those are moments of discovery. You see, interestingly enough. You as a human being have storehouse and warehouse, every experience you’ve had in your life, every conversation, every book you’ve read, every video, every class you’ve taken, every class you passed, every class you failed, every conversation you had. Even if it was argument. Even if it didn’t go your way. Your unconscious mind has storehouse and warehouse all of that information and then when you combine that with a clear understanding of what sales success means to you and this is where I’ll say it again. A clear understanding of what sales success means to you.
So as you listen to this, when you finish this calendar and set aside time where you can clearly define that answer for yourself because it’s mandatory and necessary for your mind to deliver these outcomes it has to have that target, that clear, compelling target of what sales success means to you.
Now, moving forward, when you have that clarity, your mind has infinite capacity. 86 billion neurons between 86 and 100 and what’s 14 billion when we’re talking right now in the billions. So your mind will synthesize like a supercomputer in your favor and it will give you AHA’s, Revelations, and Epiphanies. It will take all the data of your past, of your experiences. If you’re investing in yourself. If you’re listening to podcasts. If you’re going to training. If you’re doing little extra things here and there. If you’re researching your clients and in the face of something that happens because life is always happening. You will always be faced with things the unexpected. The unplanned. The setbacks. The naysayers. The critics. The uncomfortable. The uncertainty. The inconvenience. And in the face of that, in that moment in time, all you need is to remember who you are to have the AHA’s, Revelations and Epiphanies that oh my God, I remember who I can call. Oh, my God. I read this. Oh, my God. I know what I can say. Oh my God, I know how to move this forward. Oh my God, I know what to do next.
You will remember that you are well equipped and able to succeed regardless of the outcome. Just because you didn’t get the sale does not mean you failed. All you want to ensure is that you leave that prospect, that buyer better offer having met you. Because when they have the moment of recognition that they still need the product or the service that you offer, you want them to have an AHA, Revelation and Epiphany of that last conversation they had with someone was so amazing that they left them better off for having spoken to them so that they will remember you if they need you. And or if they meet someone who also needs that service, you will get the recommendation in the referral.
So this is all about you remembering who you are. Set aside time. Create and clearly define what sales success means to you. Invest in yourself on a daily regular basis and you will remember who you are, when you’re faced with naysayers, critics, setbacks, when things don’t go your way, where the unexpected, the uncertainty happens, you will be well equipped and able and prepared to always remember who you are. Have a great day selling!
