John Abbott: Transformational Sales Tip #4: Show up in service of the other person.
In other words, don’t show up to try and sell or to have a specific kind of end result that you’re looking to do, like sell somebody something. Show up in support of whatever their needs are. And what I mean by that is ask more questions and listen. It’s not about listening and then repeating back exactly what they said so that you will rapport. Yes, that works. But when you do it from a genuine place of curiosity and you ask deeper questions as a result of that because you’re there to be in service, then that is going to really serve you in a much greater way. That’s going to allow you again to find or discover things about them that they may not even know about themselves and of course, discover things about what they want that you may never have been able to know about them, which helps you to also then align them with the product that you’re selling. So show up in service rather than in a specific intention of trying to sell them anything.
