Scott Ingram: Welcome back to the Daily Sales Tips podcast. I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Now, yesterday in my Super Birthday tip, I asked you to pay special attention to the game and the commercials and look for a sales lesson. Now, before I say anything else, let me acknowledge a couple of things. First, I’m recording this about a week before the game, so actually, have no idea who won. I chose sleep over trying to make this real-time, but hopefully, it was a good game. Second, I recognized that about a quarter of the people listening to this are outside of the United States and looking at the stats after less than a dozen episodes. They’re listening from 30 different countries, which is super cool, but I realized that you might not be as obsessed with the Superbowl as many Americans are. That said, it’s always a fun diversion to at least watch some of the top commercials from the game.
Companies spend millions of dollars to produce on-air each one of these ads, and I for one, am completely fascinated by it. So because I’m obligated to work in some type of actual tip for you per the name of the show, I would simply say that there are sales and business lessons everywhere. Learning and development opportunities aren’t only available in sales podcasts and sales books. There is a ton to be learned from other business books or books on psychology, and yes, even the Superbowl and Superbowl commercials can teach us things. And that’s our theme for today and the discussion I’d like to start. What did you take away from either the game or one of the commercials that will impact your sales motion this week or this month? There’s always a lot we can learn from the mindset, the strategy and the process behind the game and the way the teams train and prepare. I also think that as sellers, we need to pay more attention to marketing because having some marketing chops will serve you incredibly well in many of your sales and especially prospecting efforts. So, hop on over to DailySales.Tips/16 to join the conversation. Then come back tomorrow as we transitioned from Superbowl to mega deals and learn how Jamal Reimer has climbed the mega-deal mountain three different times at Oracle and closed SAAS deals worth over $50 million each. See you tomorrow!
