Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today’s tip comes from our favorite Sales Confidence Igniter and Authentic Selling Crusader, Meshell Baker. Here she is:
Meshell Baker: Hello. Today, I want to talk to you about why silence is your superpower. You see, in a world that is filled with distractions and noise, it is increasingly clear that moments of silence is how you maintain focus and productivity. The benefits of silence are absolutely profound. You see, silence will unlock your creativity. It allows for innovative ideas to flourish. By submerging yourself in silence, you cultivate self-awareness and foster your personal growth.
Additionally, silence provides a tranquil space that nurtures your inner calmness and your mental clarity. And all of this is essential in combating the stresses of everyday life. Of that, sales success. We know sales is one of the most difficult mental, emotional, physical, and financial jobs to have. And silence will help you to do it in a way where you will actually remember that everything is happening for you, not to you.
So, of course, I have an acronym S-I-L-E-N-T.
So S is sitting still with yourself. This is one of the most difficult yet advantageous activities for a human being to do. When you cease moving and go within yourself and you will begin to hear, you will stop the redundant, infinite loop of mistakes, excuses, and denial. When you declare yourself a priority, you garner great success.
I – It’s an invitation to wisdom. You can call them Buddha, divine, goddess, the spirit, whatever. But to tap into the creator, the divinity is omnipotent. There is no problem that cannot be solved, no question for which there is no answer. When you submerge yourself in silence, you will find yourself cloaked in clarity. Your heightened sensitivity exposes clear paths, uncovering difficult obstructions.
L – Letting go of your past. The beauty of accepting an inner voice wisdom is the excavation of doubtful directives. The more you sit in silent solitude, your white-knuckleed grip on reality begins to loosen and you will begin to believe what you once thought was also important and relevant has none whatsoever and you will see possibilities instead of problems.
E – You Embrace life’s goodness. Silence guides you down to slow down and absorb the grandeur that’s around you and the slowing that you find your kindhearted humanity. You begin to again see and hear those greater needs that are your own and some of which have been standing right next to you all alone. You begin to move with more compassion, generosity, and kindness, and grace, which will attract more of the same.
N – It Nurtures an attitude of gratitude. In a normal world of folks clamoring and grasping for what’s theirs, mind, mind, mind, silence will help you discover there is so much more. No longer shackled by the scarcity of wanting and needing, you will be on the way of offering yourself as a blessing. The fruits of this freedom are wonderfully fortuitous and favorable. Those who follow the path find a lifetime of win-win-win scenarios and endless opportunities.
T – You Treasure a patient past. Patience is usually thought of as a good quality for others to embody. Entering silence and practicing patience are closely related. A silence works through the muscles and bones of your personality. Patience grows. You discover an inner joy that smiles no matter what life presents you. You will become someone who masterfully adapts amidst any unforeseen, unplanned, and unexpected challenge and difficulty. Your inner voice brilliance becomes your superpower.
Again, S-I-L-E-N-T is also L-I-S-T-E-N. When you are silent, you can listen. And finally, E-N-L-I-S-T, enlist and tap in to the infinite, unending possibilities to solve for whatever you are faced with. Quote by anonymous, quiet the mind, and the soul will speak. Have a great day selling.
