Scott Ingram: We’re doing the countdown of the Top Tips of 2023. Here’s #4:
You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. After hardly traveling since the start of the pandemic, I’ve been on the road the last two weeks straight and it is amazing to be able to spend face time with my clients and colleagues again, and if you listen to these tips the morning they come out, I am probably in the air right now headed home and that’s actually my tip with a giant hat tip to Mike Dudgeon who shared this with me, way way back in episode 1 of the Sales Success Stories podcast.
The tip is this: Take the morning flight! It might seem like you can be more time efficient by taking that evening flight and getting home that much sooner, but two things happen.
The first is delays. Delays compound throughout the day, so if there have been any weather, flight crew, or mechanical issues earlier in the day, your flight is very likely to be delayed. Now your night flight has turned into a late-night flight. Morning flights are far less likely to be delayed or cancelled.
The second issue is your sleep an energy. When you take that night flight you’re probably going to get home very late and get just a few hours of sleep if you’re lucky. By taking the morning flight you can get a full night’s sleep and be better rested when you return.
This approach has certainly helped me over the years. I hope it helps you. Happy Selling!
