Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. I’m not sure if today’s tip is for me or for you, because it’s largely a reminder to myself. Even though they go by quickly, a year is a long time. It’s not a sprint. It’s very much an endurance game and having dealt with some burnout issues recently I’m working to maintain a solid consistent pace this year and slowly build my endurance and stamina.
I think this is one of the reasons people flame out so quickly on New Year’s resolutions. They take off at an all out sprint and a completely unsustainable pace and drop out of the race before it’s even begun in the first few weeks. Don’t let this be you. Think about a pace that you can maintain. When we look at the course of a year, slow and steady wins the race.
Plus here’s a little bonus that could probably be it’s own tip and maybe it will be in the future, but plan for your failures too. Nothing goes perfectly. Something is going to come up and you’re going to miss a day or drop the ball. Don’t let that be the end.
For me that means it’s OK to miss a day, but to work really hard to not miss two. So that’s it. Pace yourself. Find a pace that you can maintain over the long haul and plan for failures so you can quickly get back up and keep going.
Now speaking of consistency. Make sure you subscribe to the podcast and be sure to come back for another great sales tip. Thanks for listening!
