Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today’s tip comes from Meshell Baker, our favorite sales confidence igniter and authentic selling crusader. Here she is:
Meshell Baker: Hello. Today, we’re going to talk about mastering your morning so you can slay your day. I’m going to share with you a couple of strategies to transform your morning and supercharge your sales performance. First, I want you to recognize that starting your day sets the tone for everything that follows. As a sales professional, having a structured and empowering morning routine will be a game changer. So I’m going to share what you have said, three takeaways and some interesting facts, as well as something you can immediately implement to get you on the path to master your morning and slay your day.
The first takeaway is prioritize your well-being. Your well-being, physical and mental, are your most valuable asset. Starting your day with activities that nourish your body and mind, like a morning workout, meditation, a healthy breakfast, this is you investing in you. First thing in the morning, you’re setting yourself up to start your day at peak performance If you’re not clear on what you can do, look up Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. He has six things that you can do. His acronym is SAVERS, and it will pick several of those and start your day.
Two. Plan with purpose. Taking a few minutes after you do your mindset, your health, and your mental to look at and outline your key objectives. What are those KPIs? What are the most important tasks? Who are the clients and prospects that require a follow-up? Having a clear plan to help you focus and ensure you’re spending your time on activities that drive results. Remember, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
Next one, number three. Pursue a positive mindset. Cultivating a positive mindset is everything. Remember, sales is challenging. Sales wears on you physically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally, financially, Absolutely. Having a resilient and optimistic attitude will make the difference. Starting your day with the affirmations or motivational readings or a podcast, surround yourself with positivity, whether it’s music, as I mentioned, podcasts, a book on tape and appreciate what you’re grateful for. A positive mindset not only boosts your own morale, but it also makes you more approachable and engaging to your clients. And again, refer back to other ways that you’ve seen other sales professionals build their positive mindset. The fact that Harvard Business Review actually did a research and found that those who have consistent morning routines are more productive, experience less stress, and better at managing their time.
This is because a structured morning routine will enhance your cognitive function, making you sharper and more focused throughout the day. Basically, you’re going to be smarter. The immediately implementable thing that you can do is set up a power hour. Now, I call it the fast 15. Fifteen minutes is less than 0.01% of your day. Starting this with, as I mentioned, the SAVERS. These are the things that you’re filling your cup with, your positivity, your mental, and your physical well-being. After you do that, the power hour is dedicating to high-impact activities. This is where you’re looking at your goals, reviewing the things on your list that are absolutely mandatory, preparing for key meetings. During this hour, you’re avoiding distractions like checking emails and social media. Instead, you are using this time to set the tone for a productive day by front-loading your high-impact task. You create momentum that will carry you throughout the rest of the day.
Brian Tracy has a book on this called Eat That Frog! Now, I want you to remember, mastering your morning is not about perfection. It’s about consistency. See, it’s about you focusing on doing something every day for your well-being, planning with purpose, and pursuing a positive mindset. You’re going to be well on the way to slaying your day. Start implementing these tips immediately Really, tomorrow morning, and with consistently. Track your consistency because that’s when you’re going to see the outcomes. I tell people, when you’re doing things like mindset work, focus on who you become, not the outcome, and that’s when you’ll see the results. Seize the day and strive for excellence and have a great day selling.
