Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. With this year’s Sales Success Summit just about 6 weeks away I’ve been thinking a lot about the themes this year and what the Summit is really about. Hopefully, you’re already familiar with the event, but like we have for the last 6 years, we’ll get together here in Austin for 2 days in a very intimate environment to learn with some of the best of the best. Not the best sales thought leaders, but real top performing quota carriers who’ve all be featured on the Sales Success Stories podcast.
What I’ve come to realize is that this event really focuses on fundamentals. If I’ve learned anything from having interviewed 180 #1 and top 1% individual contributors, it’s that there are no shortcuts, and there are no silver bullets. Real sustainable success is structural, and a lot of people don’t like the fact that it takes real work to build a personal foundation for consistent performance.
I live on a hill overlooking downtown Austin and some of the beautiful hill country and at the bottom of that hill they’re building a massive new highway expansion to alleviate one of Austin’s worst traffic chokepoints. This to me feels like the work that true top performers take on. It’s going to take years to complete. It truly is structural. It’s taken tons of engineers, planning and work to put in place, and the end result will be massively better. Too much of the content out there is the equivalent of just trying to paint new lane lines on the same old roads or adding some new LED lights. Sure they might make a little bit of a difference, but they’re incremental improvements at best.
At the Summit we’re going to do the hard work of creating our own structural success that if we execute well will change the trajectory of our careers. Brandon Fluharty is going to open things up in his one and only in-person presentation this year about Purposeful Performance. Kaleigh Conners is going to talk about Self Enablement, because at the end of the day, YOU are the one who’s responsible for your own success. Alex Smith will talk about Discovering Your #1 Self and the journey he went on to find that for himself. Shannon Hall will talk about how to Ungrind, because sales success is a marathon and you’ll burn yourself out if you try to sprint too hard for too long. There’s more, but Luke Floyd will also be giving us his own structural framework and release his first book as he talks about how to Build Success with a High Performance Operating System.
If this type of success is what you’re working towards and are committed to, you’ve got to come and join us. You’ll find all the details at Top1Summit.com, but as a thank you for listening to this podcast, I’ve got a little something extra special for you. Send an email to [email protected] or drop me a note on LinkedIn and mention the Summit and Daily Sales Tips so I can hook you up and let’s get you to Austin on October 7th and 8th. Thanks for listening!
