“Sometimes you just gotta have a little fun. Sometimes you have to risk doing something that won’t work in order for you to hit the nail on the head. Trying to avoid failure is no way to succeed. ” – Jeff Bajorek in today’s Tip 187

Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today Jeff Bajorek is back in his regular spot with today’s tip. Here it is:
Jeff Bajorek: They can’t all be zingers. You remember a couple of weeks ago I gave you a Daily Sales Tips. I’m about peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and word. You know, what do you want to be when you grow up? Look, maybe that tip landed right at home, right where it needed to. I can tell you on my end it is not aging well. That is not my best work, but I was willing to take a risk. There’s actually a pretty solid principal underneath that in terms of asking questions that are going to be emotionally engaging and differentiating rather than the same old, same old that your prospects have heard from other mediocre sales reps that you do not want to appear to be like. But instead, it came off as a diatribe about the ratio between peanut butter and jelly. And I didn’t even mention that I would prefer crunchy peanut butter over creamy, but none of that matters because you know what? Sometimes you just got to put it out there. Sometimes you just gotta have a little fun. Sometimes you have to risk doing something that won’t work in order for you to hit the nail on the head. Trying to avoid failure is no way to succeed. I want you to think about that, and I also want you to think about the idea, the concept that if you try to please everybody, you will thrill no one. Think about those two things. Think about those two concepts as you go to work today. As you go to work tomorrow and the next day after that, don’t be afraid to get on the edge a little bit. You’re going to succeed a lot more. You’re going to have a lot more fun, and that’s what it’s really all about.
