Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. When I saw Valentine’s Day coming up on the calendar, I knew exactly who I had to get to share today’s tip. Larry Levine is the host of the Selling from The Heart podcast and the author of Selling from The Heart: How Your Authentic Self Sells You. Here’s Larry with today’s tip:
Larry Levine: So here we are in the month of February and what better month to celebrate Valentines with a little bit of selling from the heart. Oftentimes on my Selling from the Heart podcast, in fact, all the time I always ask our guests, “what does it mean to you to sell from the heart?” And I thought, you know, “Larry, what does it mean to you to sell from the heart?” Because oftentimes I’m asked that, and I really think selling from the heart means your genuine self. And what I mean by that is you know who you are, you’re true, you stay grounded in the core foundation of you, which means we’ve got to become that best version of ourselves. And that means not faking it. That means that we walk it, we talk it, we live it, we show people that we truly care and more importantly, there’s no self deception behind what we say because quite often in a world full of empty suits, salespeople are often behind the eight ball already. But if you can bring with sincerity and with substance the best version of yourself, that’s what people really want. To me, that selling from the heart, it’s knowing who you are, not walking around in a sales facade and I was like saying, you know, no more empty suits. We all can fill up that suit. We can all fill out that suit with empathy, with education and with excitement if we can bring sincerity and substance to our clients and our prospects. So, I want to leave you with it, with an action tip and that’s something that you can sit down with a pen and a sheet of paper and go old school on this. For those people who love technology, you can put this in your smartphone or your iPad or your laptop. I want you to sit down and think about this and describe “what does it mean to be your authentic self?”. Not only what would that mean to you to be your authentic self, but what would that mean to your clients and what would that mean to your prospects? And furthermore, what would that mean to you as you enhance your sales opportunities and enhance your career?
Scott Ingram: So my question for you today is the same as Larry’s question. What does it mean to be your authentic self? Share your thoughts in the comments section at DailySales.Tips/26 then at the end of February, I’m going to let Larry choose his favorite answer to that question from the comments and he’ll send you a copy of his book, Selling from The Heart. As always, you’ll find links to Larry’s podcast, his book, and social profiles on that page as well at DailySales.Tips/26 then come back tomorrow to hear a great tip from Amy Franko on maintaining sales conversation momentum. Enjoy your Valentine’s Day and I’ll talk to you then.
