Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips Podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today’s tip comes from our first regular contributor, Jeff Bajorek, who is back for his third installment and here it is:
Jeff Bajorek: My tip for you today was inspired by listening to this very podcast. I was on my way to the gym trying to get caught up. And undoubtedly by the time you’re listening to this, I’m behind again, but we’ll get to that on another show. I’m on my way to the gym listening to these people, this collection of talent who all have something valuable to share, and I am learning and realizing at the same time that I don’t know it all. As a matter of fact, every time I’ve ever gotten in trouble in sales or in business, it’s because I thought I did know it all. Now, there’s no more humbling place on earth than the gym. So as I came home, sweaty and messy, and you can see that if you’re watching the video right now and I’m thinking I need to record this tip right now because the lesson that I want to share, the tip that I want to share with you today is to check your ego at the door. You don’t know it all. You can never know it all. And if you were to know it all, it would be defeating because listen, it’s boring. If everything is perfect, then you’re absolutely bored. So be curious. Seek to learn, seek to understand more. Realize that there’s nothing wrong in admitting that someone is a little better at something than you are and you have to be willing to accept that you’re maybe a little better at something else, then that person is. That’s why networks are valuable. That’s why relationships are important. That’s why perspective is so vital as you go out into business because no day is ever the same. And the more you can understand that you will never reach perfection, you can only come closer and closer, but never actually touch greatness. The more greatness you’re going to experience. Check your ego, be willing to learn and know there’s always more to learn and you’re going to learn more than you ever thought possible.
Scott Ingram: Jeff is another one who also shares his tips in video form as well as you heard him mentioned. In fact, it’s worth mentioning that on the DailySales.Tips website, you’ll find not only the videos from those contributors who include them and actually, the last three in a row have done just that but also the transcripts from each of those tips. So if you ever want to go back and remind yourself of a particular tip or just want to quickly read through these instead of listening to them, that’s always an option. The goal is also to host a discussion around each of these tips and that’s why I always try and ask a question to get that conversation going. So today I’ll ask what can you learn more about? This could be anything. It doesn’t have to be specific to sales. Come join the conversation at DailySales.Tips/53 and as always, we’ll have the transcript and links where you can learn more about Jeff Bajorek. Thanks for listening and come back tomorrow for another great sales tip where hopefully you can learn just a little bit more.
