Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today, Jeff Bajorek is back. Here he is:
Jeff Bajorek: I realize just over this weekend that I haven’t formally recognized October as Women in Sales Month. And that’s a shame. There have been so many women throughout my career who have inspired me, challenged me. And in some instances sold circles around me that I think it’s important to do so.
Look, I believe that our profession is made better by contributions from everybody. And I believe that multiple points of view can lead to better discoveries and a more thorough understanding of what it takes to move people to act. That’s what we’re trying to do here.
So while I can’t list everybody throughout my career, who’s inspired me. I can mention a couple of people. I would be remiss if I did not mention my partner on The Why And The Buy Christie Walters. A very strong leader, a very passionate and talented seller. And thank you, Christie, for everything you bring to our show and to the community at large.
I also want to recognize my wife, who though not in a formal sales role has taught me more about selling than I think, just about any other person in or out of the profession because she understands what it’s like to listen. She understands what it’s like to take a different point of view, and she really understands empathy on a level that no one else I’ve ever met understands it. So thank you to you both and thank you to all the other women that I’ve ever sold next to against, or even in the same circle because you make our profession better. So continue to do what you do. And thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
I’ve got a challenge for you. I want you to look up two or three people, maybe even more people that you have sold with or sold against, some, another woman who has inspired you. And I want you to thank them. And maybe it’s the time that you get to just reach out and reconnect for the first time. Or maybe it is time where this is someone you’ve been meaning to reach out with. Use this as an opportunity to use this as some leverage, to get some more momentum going. And we’ll all be better for that.
Scott Ingram: Jeff’s not the only one who nearly forgot to recognize Women in Sales Month. I’m embarrassed to admit that there have only been two women on this podcast this month. For me, this is always an important issue and not one I only think about in October, but I’ve certainly come up short this month. So I’m going to add to Jeff’s challenge just a bit. When you’re reaching out thank an amazing woman who has inspired you. Be specific. Mention one very detailed thing you’ve watched them do or have learned from them, and then. Suggest that they share that thing here as a Daily Sales Tip. We’ll all be better for it.
Thanks for listening. As always we’ll have more for you at DailySales.Tips/651, including the instructions on how to submit a tip so we can feature you.
Once you’ve done that. Be sure to come back tomorrow for another great sales tip!
