Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today, Jeff Bajorek is back with another tip. Here he is:
Jeff Bajorek: Make someone’s day today, every day. That’s my tip for you. We have all kinds of opportunities on a regular basis, daily, even where whether it’s a selling situation or a non-selling situation, we can change someone’s mood, we can enhance someone’s experience, and I think those opportunities should be taken because if you’re not having fun, you’re doing it wrong. Now my wife will shake her head at me and that anybody who comes into contact with me when she sees me go out of my way at a coffee shop, at a restaurant, wherever we are, to try to make someone have a better experience than they’re having right now, even if they’re having a good one already. She calls me a flirt and she says that I’m relentless about trying to get some sort of a rise out of whoever it is that we come into contact with. Now, I just think its fun, but there’s a lot of more subtle aspects to what’s going on there. First of all, you have an opportunity to practice some humor. You have an opportunity to try to get people to laugh. Sometimes it’s material that I want to use with a client or a prospect. Sometimes it’s just me, in general, trying to see how funny I am, which in some cases is more than others. The other thing that you get to practice is looking for details, small little things that other people don’t notice. You look for the subtleties in life and I think it’s very clear to see how valuable that can be in a business or a selling situation. Lastly, there’s a lot to be said about someone who’s fun to be around and that reputation will carry along. You will carry that reputation along with you, even if it means that you stutter when you’re trying to get your point across. So this is what I want you to do. I want you to think of a way, and I want you to start practicing this every day. Every person you come into contact with, think about how you can maybe make them smile. Think about how you can make their day just a little bit better, even if it’s already good. You’re going to see a lot of things start to change and you’re going to start having a lot more fun and I think that’s the way you should do it.
Scott Ingram: Today I hope you’ll help me make Jeff Bajorek’s day. Jeff raises money every year for a really cool non-profit called Chosen Vision through an epic 100 hole golf marathon, but this year he’s doing something pretty brilliant. He reached out to a bunch of his sales book writing friends and asked us to contribute our books so that he can give them away to those who invest in themselves and in this great cause. Go to this tip’s page at DailySales.Tips/95 for a link to Jeff’s fundraising page. If you value sales books the way I do, then you’re going to want to jump on this. It’s an incredible value that I took advantage of myself even though I already own over half the books on the list he’s pulled together so far.
Thanks for your generosity! And thank you so much for listening!
