Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today’s tip comes from Lori Richardson. Lori is a life-long sales geek having spent 20 years in tech and financial services sales before she founded a sales strategy firm called Score More Sales to help companies get more real data about their sales team. She’s also the host of the Conversations with Women in Sales podcast and an advocate for more inclusive sales teams. Here she is:
Lori Richardson: Let’s talk about week 52. 3 strategies. One, a lot of buyers are working between the week that starts Christmas Eve until New Year’s Day. And because nearly all of our buyers are working from home. It makes even less defined as to when people are away and when they are checking on work. And while I’m talking about that week, think about the week before and the early days into the new year. We all have sales opportunities and various stages. So of course, one prescription won’t solve all. If you sell a simple service or product, or if you can get sign off on a proof of concept or trial, you can likely get things done.
Two, If you have a more complex sale and it won’t be possible to come to closure by the end of week 52. Consider putting time into getting your systems organized. Setting meetings and building more trust and rapport with existing clients. Clean out that old email, get your digital system together, and start planning the first weeks of the new year. Take advantage of that time.
The third strategy is for those who’ve had a tough time or who may have an employer that shuts down for the week. Definitely take advantage of a block of time away to refresh and reinvigorate. Whatever you do, this is a great time to reflect and think about how things went and how you want them to be next year, because after all time is the one thing we as sellers do not get back. So use it wisely.
