Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today’s tip comes from Evan Knox. Evan is the founder of Caffeine Marketing and a small business investor. Here he is:
Evan Knox: Hey, this is Evan the founder of Caffeine Marketing. And today I’m going to share with you my favorite marketing tip and it’s this is your marketing should not be about you. Ultimately, it should be about your customer or your client. And what I mean by this really is that your marketing shouldn’t make you the hero. It should ultimately position you as the guide. And here’s a really simple way to do that.
First, you want to talk about the problems that your customer is experiencing. This can be the external problem that they are literally encountering, or this can be the internal problem that they can feel based off the external problem they’re experiencing. So when you come in and you address their pain point and you articulate that for them, they expect that you’re going to be able to provide them a solution.
Next, you want to provide empathy by saying, “Hey, I get it. I’ve been there.” That’s actually why we started our company. And then last, you had to come in with authority and great ways to do this, our customer logos and testimonials and if you’re in sales, you tell stories where you’ve helped other people win the day. And this is ultimately going to be a really easy way for you to position yourself as the guide so that when people encounter their problems, they’re going to remember you and once hire your business, your brand, whatever to solve that problem for them.
