Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today I’ve got another quick clip from my conversation with Clari’s #1 AE, Lynn Powers, on the Sales Success Stories Podcast. Check out this little nugget:
Lynn Powers: I like to text first. Is that weird? I’m like, “Hey, I’m going to call you in a second.” They’re like, “Who is this texting me.” And then I call and they’re like, Okay, I’m very curious now. And so I think just mixing up how you communicate or how you get in touch with people is going to make that call a lot more impactful. The other thing is I think people are just itching for it. To be honest with you, I don’t think that the camaraderie that I used to remember when we were doing like war room cold call sessions at Oracle are something that organically can happen in a remote world. One person can be on speaker, but you can’t have all ten of you on speaker at the same time cold calling, it doesn’t make sense, right?
And so I think building that muscle is important and so the way that I do that is I sit in short zooms with different folks that I think are really good at their job and we just bounce back and do cold calls together. And I think having that accountability partner is one thing of I can get through this call list. I have to prepare a call list because this other person is also going to be calling with me and I don’t want to waste their time just as much as I don’t want to waste my own. But the discipline that it takes to do that independently, I don’t think a lot of people will take the time to do or they’ll be easy to back out of that to-do list or cross it out or put it on a low priority.
