Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. When was the last time you tried something new, or maybe just picked up an activity that you used to do, but haven’t done in a while? Sometimes you just need to shake things up a bit. You may know that I’m a big Peloton fan. I got my bike at the very end of 2017, so about a year and a half ago and since then have ridden over 250 times. I love the thing, BUT I think my body has become immune to its effects. That’s about the only thing I’ve been doing to workout lately and I’m basically not seeing any impact anymore. Does that sound familiar? Is there a part of your sales process that used to work consistently for you that doesn’t seem to be as effective anymore? Maybe it’s time to try something new or go back to a different approach that maybe worked for you in the past that you haven’t been doing. For me and my body, the thing that has proven to make the biggest impact on my fitness is training for a Triathlon. So that’s what I’ve started doing to change things up. If you’re worried about my sanity and how much I already have on my plate, don’t worry, I’m not training for an Ironman. Just a short sprint distance triathlon here in Austin the end of August. It’s just a 600-meter swim, 11.2-mile bike, and 5K run. That’s something I could right now if I had to, but I know the process of training for this event over the next 12 weeks will kick my fitness into gear and I can still keep all of my daily workouts to an hour or less. It’s been almost 10 years since my last tri, but I know this will work and I’ve really been enjoying the change of pace. Last Thursday I knocked out a 1,000-yard swim and it’s given me an excuse to get out with my 13-year-old daughter who is just ramping up her own training efforts for a cross country season in the fall. If you’re into that sort of thing and want to follow along, feel free to follow me on Strava where I track most of my workouts.
