Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today’s tip comes from our friends at Allego and their Enable Minutes show. This one features Christina Brooke, an AE at Allego. Here she is:
Christina Brooke: I remember saying to someone, I was like, Do you know what, sometimes I just want to be given the answers to something. Why do I have to be taken on this journey to find out the answer? The journey that I’ve been on has been made so much better for me by my sales manager saying, Okay, I’m not just going to give you the answer to this. I’m going to ask you how you think you should work it out, and then we’ll work collaboratively to come up with the right answer, the right approach. When I’m talking about identifying a skill set in a commercial team, I guess you could be a bit like, Oh, well, people get hired in marketing roles because they’ve got this skill set already and people are hired into that new business sales role because they’ve already got that DNA of a salesperson, I guess. There are so many people within just one team who will still all have different skill sets. The way that we’re unlocking it as a team at the moment is to spend a lot more time with each other. In doing that, you understand who you’re speaking to, what their skill set is, and whether or not you can help each other and utilize each other’s skill sets moving forward. It’s about collaboration and actually communicating with the team of people that you’ve got around you.
