Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today’s tip comes from Jacquelyn Nicholson. Jacquelyn has 3 decades building/supporting the best brands in the world and growing businesses in new markets from scratch, she is passionate about being the woman her husband would marry again, the mom her kids are proud of, and the person her boss or customer would work with again. Here she is:
Jacquelyn Nicholson: Hey guys! Stress is an absolute killer. It’s one of the things that’s common to the sales community. I have some unsolicited advice for you. So many of us get caught up in the details that they forget the true purpose of what we’re doing. You get caught up in the deals and the bad boss and all the things that are going on. But ultimately, this is about the long game of your career and your success and your ease and grace in your life. You’re not working to work, you’re working for something else, whether it’s to be charitable, to buy nice things, to support your community, or to support your family. Whatever issues you encounter, just remember is all you need to do is show up. You need to tell yourself, Look, I’m enjoying the ride. I’m going to have a great time and I’m going to be the best person that I can be while I do this. I’m going to be fully present in each and every moment, serving my community, serving my customers, what have you. I just wanted to tell you, don’t let the stress of planning for every deal and every quarter to really take away the meaning of what it is you’re trying to do, because what you’re trying to do is build a career upon purpose, upon serving your customers, and upon serving one another. So in the midst of the big push, try not to lose sight of those important things. Thanks!
