Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today’s tip comes from our friends at Allego and their EnableMinutes show. This one features Kate Martin, a Senior Enterprise Account Executive at Allego. Here she is:
Kate Martin: The advice I would give someone who’s brand new to sales and trying to come to a place of confidence, I would tell them that you have to keep in mind that this is truly a conversation, that ultimately, if your intent is to see if there is a good match between what it is that you do well as an organization and what it is that they’re trying to accomplish, you can just have a truly human interaction. We get fed so many ask this question, do this, do that. All of that is important. There’s methodologies and that takes time that will come to be a habit. You will get more confident in that. But before you are confident in that, just remember, you can have an authentic conversation. You can connect with someone. You can ask them, What are you trying to do? And instead of thinking through what’s your next answer going to be, just listen. Just respond appropriately. We’ve been having conversations our whole lives. I would also definitely tell people to shadow someone or to if you have game tape like conversational intelligence or have the opportunity to see people practice, watch that because so much of this is nuance.
