Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today Dale Dupree is back. Hopefully, you already know Dale and have heard some of his other tips, he’s the Leader of the Sales Rebellion and has this tip for us:
Dale Dupree: Listen, this tip might be extremely weird to some of you. To the others that nerd out on psychology and the holistic side of life like myself. You’re probably gonna love this one. What I want you to do is I want you to envision what happens when you wake up first thing in the morning. Let me tell you what I do. When I first wake up in the morning, I had directly into my bathroom, splash some water on my face, the stereotypical 1970s wake up routine where I pump myself up, right? I create an atmosphere of affirmations for myself. I envision what my future looks like, not just my day and my week and my month, but where will I be over the next several years as well. I spend about 30 minutes inside of my own head working on things that understanding myself better throughout the process. Because one of the most powerful things inside of your sales role is to know thyself. So inside of those affirmations and spending time in meditation and getting myself ready for the day, I also want you to understand this, is that the brain needs anywhere between 30 minutes and an hour to wake up, right? It has three different states that it goes into once your eyes open in the first place. And now the thing is that most of you are thinking about your day and I’m going to say that probably the majority of you, were thinking to yourself well, I head straight to my phone, dude. I opened up my phone right away. And let me just tell you that by doing that, you rush your brain out of its sleep state, into its awake state past the three stages that it needs to go through in the first place. And so getting your phone out and jumping into the news or a notification that you have on Facebook about that sweet grilled cheese sandwich that you took a picture of last night and whatever it is, those things are not healthy. They don’t create an environment of success in the morning in preparation for the day that you’re about to have. And so what I want you to do is I want you to really sit back and think about how you’re feeding your soul, how you’re feeding your brain, how you’re feeding your sleep to an awake state of mind in the first place.
