Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today, still in the first half of December, I want to suggest that you book meetings for January. I’ve always had a ton of success with this approach. Booking meetings in December is just tricky. People are often extra busy trying to cram a month’s worth of work into two or three weeks and finish out the year. It’s just a challenging time for all of us to navigate. What I’ve found though, is that as crazy as this month can be, calendars are usually pretty wide open come January. So what I do is reach out and just ask for time in January. If something really urgent is going on, then of course you can fall back and schedule a time in December, but early January is an incredible time to get on people’s calendars. They’re more open than usual, and having done this for years I can tell you that people are typically more optimistic and forward-looking those first couple of weeks of the year.

Here’s a super-simple email you’re welcome to steal and adjust to your own approach:
I’m sure you’re busy wrapping up your 2020.
Why don’t we grab 15 minutes together once the calendar turns over in 2021. Does 3pm on Wednesday the 6th work for you?
Let me know and I’ll send you a calendar invite.
Happy Holidays and I look forward to catching up with you in the New Year!
