Dayna Leaman on Sales Success Stories: Episode 37
Transcript
Scott Ingram: Welcome back to the Daily Sales Tips Podcast. I’m your host. Scott Ingram. Today I’ve got another clip from my 90-minute long conversation with Dayna Leaman from Wiley in episode 37 of the Sales Success Stories podcast. Here she is again talking about how to become successful in sales:
Dayna Leaman: I would first tell them to be patient, to be extremely hungry and really a big one that I think a lot of people forget about Scott is to be humble and to really look at other people not just where they work but other people that they know whether it’s in a sales job or something else about how they gained their success. And to talk to those people and walk right up to them. That was one of the things I did early on when I started Wiley is I found out who were the leaders and the drivers of sales success in our company. And I walked right up to them and I just said and one of them is Mary Jo Mackesey. She’s absolutely amazing. She’s been with Wiley a long time I said “I want to be around you. I want to know what you do and I want to know how you do it.” And she was kind enough for many occasions that we’ve had great conversations and were personal friends to this day but to seek those people out even if it’s uncomfortable for you.
Scott Ingram: What Dayna just described here is exactly the type of connections we work to foster at the Sales Success Summit. Hopefully, this is already on your radar. It’s coming up October 14th and 15th here in Austin and exclusively features presentations from the top 1% sales performers that I’ve talked with on the Sales Success Stories podcast. People like Dayna. What’s totally ridiculous about how much brilliance is in the room is at last year’s event, Dayna was there and she wasn’t even part of the program. Though she added a ton to the conversation in all of the hallway conversations because I intentionally build in a lot of time to network and connect over the course of the event. Check it out! All the details are at top1summit.com, if sales is more than just a job to you, then come out and join us in developing yourself and building to your own potential.
