Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. Today Andrea Waltz of Go For No fame is back to share another tip. Here she is:
Andrea Waltz: Hey, I’m Andrea Waltz, Co-Author of the book Go for No and my sales tip for you today is to never make decisions for other people about what they are going to decide, to do, to spend or anything else for that matter. Salespeople in general, love to think that they are psychic and we have the ability to figure out what people are going to decide, what they’re going to do, what they’re going to spend. And in doing so in part, this is a protective mechanism in order to not be rejected or to get a no. So in other words, we rule out the people that we think are just going to say no for one reason or another. When you do that, you actually limit your opportunities rather than increase them. So never make decisions for someone else. Don’t give yourself the no. If you’re going to get a no, let your customer or prospect give you that no. Always go out and maximize that opportunity by asking, rather than making that assumption and not asking.
