Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. It’s Monday again, but have no fear, because Meshell Baker is here!
Meshell Baker: Hello! Today I want to talk about feelings because there are so many feelings around being a seller, being a top-performing seller. So either you’re feeling good about it because you’re already there, or you’re struggling and trying to get there, so you’re not feeling good about it. And what I want to talk about is the fact that feelings are real, but they are not the true test of your reality.
So the reality is that you are feeling fear, right? If you’re not the top-performing seller you want to be, you are feeling fear. And fear is not real. The only place that fear can exist is in your thoughts. It’s in your mind. It’s not outside of you. It’s your thoughts as a future, right? You’re imagining, it’s the product of your imagination, and you’re imagining that you’re going to fail, so that fear causes you to present or to behave in a manner that’s counter to your success.
And I don’t want you to misunderstand me when I tell you that fear is not real, because danger is a real sense, right? But you’re choosing to fear, right? Danger is like a dog, rabid dog coming at you, frothy mouth, teeth, coming at you fast. That’s telling you, Danger, Will Robinson, danger. You want to go find safety.
So that will, in some cases, create a sense of palpitations in your heart. Your pulse will start beating, your eyes will dilate. All of that will happen. But we also know that that same physiological response happens in the midst of the excitement. When you’re on a roller coaster, when you’re anticipating something amazing is about to happen, when you know somebody is about to surprise you, right? You have that same physiological response.
So this tells you that fear is not real. It’s a choice in the story that we decide to tell ourselves. So what I’m going to tell you is give you a bunch of acronyms for fear, because I want you to be able to act as if it’s different. To act as if it’s different, that fear is your friend. Everything you want is outside the comfort zone. So when you feel that feeling, that you get excited and understand that something amazing is going to happen. Because then your mind, your thoughts, your imagination will take you in that direction. And I want anyone listening to this to experience the joy of not worrying about where the next sale is coming from. The joy of understanding that you’re already a top performer and that you’re stepping outside of your comfort zone to receive everything that’s due to you from all the hard work you’ve already put in. You’ve already gone out and planted your seeds and work your soil. It’s time that you get your harvest.
So the first one I’m going to share with you, very familiar, F-E-A-R, False Evidence Appearing Real. You’re very familiar with that one for FEAR.
The other one you may have heard, Face Everything And Rise. Face Everything And Rise. Which just means that instead of running, what we normally do because we think it’s Danger, Will Robinson, the rabid dog, we go running the other direction. I’m telling you to face it and rise and run towards it. Right?
And that would be the next F-E-A-R. Forget Everything And Run towards what you know to be true. Instead of running away because you feel a feeling, decide that the feeling is pointing you in the direction of something amazing. Because magic only happens outside the comfort zone. So in order for you to get the magic, you must be uncomfortable. You must feel feelings of being inconvenienced, right?
This is working in your favor. F-E-A-R. For Everything A Reason. The reason this happened is because you have a vision, you have a desire, you have goals of something great or something more or something better. So for everything a reason, the reason you’re feeling the fear is because everything that you’ve wanted and talked about and hoped for is right there and it’s on its way.
F-E-A-R. Feeling Excited And Ready. If you’ve never heard me say it before, God, Buddha, Allah, Divine, the Source, the Goddess, the Force, the Spirit, whatever you want to call your higher power, absolutely adores humanity. Loves and adores humanity. Humanity being a consensus of humans, a community of humans, and you are a human. Therefore, Source loves you and only wants the best for you. So therefore, Source never sets you up to fail or look bad.
So again, you are already ready. So get excited. Feeling Excited And Ready, right?
Face Everything And Respond accordingly. When you see it, respond. Instead of telling the story about what could go wrong, or how hard it is, or how unfair it is, start telling the story differently. Start telling the story that you’ve already succeeded. Start imagining that this is working in your favor and this is an opportunity for you to win.
And the last one I’m going to share with you is F-E-A-R. Future Events Already Received. Start claiming your future is yours. You already deserve everything that you have set your sights on, that you have prepared for. So Future Events Already Received. Say thank you. No matter what happens, start saying thank you. Because you cannot have success without failure. Everything is an opportunity to strengthen you, refine you, define you, to grow you, to fortify you, so that you can have more. And the more happens when you will face it. Face Everything And Rise.
