Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. One of the things that I’ve seen consistently among the top 1% performers that I interview on the Sales Success Stories podcast is their high degree of self-awareness, but I don’t think self-awareness comes solely from self. Feedback is a critical ingredient in understanding your strengths and weaknesses and you can get that feedback from so many places if you’ll just ask for it. You can ask your manager, you can ask your peers, you can ask your friends and I really hope you’ll ask those you’ve sold to. Not just those who bought from you, but also talk to people you’ve tried to sell to who didn’t buy for their feedback as well. The key is making people comfortable and letting them know that their input is really valuable in helping you improve. Now, I will often jokingly tell people that I’m in sales and because of that it’s nearly impossible to hurt my feelings. Again, you want to let them know that you’re open to whatever thoughts they have to share. It helps, if you provide some specific guidance or questions as well. Are you looking for feedback on a particular part of your process? Ask specifically about that. The more people you ask the better. Think of it as a 360 review that you’re running on yourself.
Now let me give you a very specific example, because I would really appreciate your feedback about me and about this show. Good, bad, or ugly I’m all about it because I want these tips and the value of this podcast for you to continue to improve. Specifically, I’m interested in hearing which types of episodes you like the best and have gotten the most value from. Which ones don’t you like? If you have suggestions on improving the structure or people you’d like to hear from, I’m open to all of it. I’ve also tried to create a bunch of different channels for you to provide that feedback in whichever way you’re most comfortable with. I literally just created the Sales Success hotline and will likely start including that at the top of the show notes for each episode, so you can literally just click the phone number on your phone and either call me or text me. That number is 512-777-1442 and my email is [email protected].
If you want to share your feedback more publicly you can do that in the comments section on the tip page at DailySales.Tips/126
This isn’t a one time ask either. You’re welcome to share your thoughts either publicly or privately about any episode through any of those channels.
I really appreciate you spending a few minutes to share your thoughts. Then as always, come back tomorrow for another great sales tip. Thanks for listening!
