Scott Ingram: You’re listening to the Daily Sales Tips Podcast and I’m your host, Scott Ingram. My tip for you today is to listen to more sales podcasts! Obviously, I’m a big fan of the medium as the host of two different sales focused shows, but I also listen to a lot of other shows as well. Not all of them are sales oriented, some are related to my industry and other interests I have, but for me, it’s mostly about being able to make productive use of those times where my body might be busy, but my brain is free. That’s usually when I’m in the car or working out, although my Peloton is pretty all consuming so a little less while working out these days.
I’m also what’s called a podfaster. I listen to almost everything sped up to somewhere between 1.8 and two times normal speed. Which means I can consume 80-100% more content in the same amount of time. Some people think I’m crazy when they hear this, but if you work your way up you’ll hardly notice. You shouldn’t have to subject yourself to a bunch of chipmunks while doing this. A good app will allow you to speed things up with out making the pitch higher. I typically listen with an app called Pocket Casts that allows you to speed things up in tenths. So you can start with 1.1 times speed or 1.2 times speed. I bet you’ll barely notice, and then add 10% each week for a few weeks and you’ll be zipping along like me. According to my stats in Pocket Casts, and I’ll share this screenshot on this tip’s page at DailySales.Tips/50 I’ve saved over 28 days of time doing this. It’s not all just speeding things up. It also allows me to skip intros. So when I listen to the Tim Ferris show for example I have it set to skip the first 4 minutes where he sticks all of his ads.
So with that little hack, you should have more bandwidth to listen to more podcasts! Of course, I’d love it if you dug into the back catalog here on Daily Sales Tips or on my Sales Success Stories Podcast, but I’ve also just recently updated a list of every active sales focused podcast I can find. That list is now 112 shows long. You can get to that list directly at top1.fm/sales-podcasts and of course, I’ll also have a link to it at DailySales.Tips/50 and if I’ve missed a show on that list, please let me know in the comments and we’ll get it added right away.
Thanks for listening to this sales podcast, and be sure to come back tomorrow for another great sales tip.
